As Ford Authority reported earlier this week, the 2022 Ford F-150 will be gaining an XLT Black Appearance Package, an STX Black Appearance Package, and a Lariat Black Appearance Package. Sources familiar with the 2022 F-150 launch have also confirmed to Ford Authority that a Platinum Black Appearance Package will be also available for Ford’s perenially best-selling pickup, though we currently don’t have any photos of what this package might look like.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Platinum Black Appearance Package is optional on Platinum-trimmed F-150 models with a 145-inch wheelbase but is not available with two-wheel drive and Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6 – opting for that engine also requires four-wheel drive for those that want the blacked-out package.
On the outside, the Black Appearance Package includes 20-inch gloss black-painted aluminum wheels, black box side rear decals (four-wheel drive and FX4 Off-Road Package only), black exterior badging, black headlamp bezels, a black tailgate applique, body-color door handles and mirror caps, dark-tinted taillamps, dual exhaust with black tips (four-wheel drive and 3.5L EcoBoost only), power deployable running boards with black accents, and a unique hood and grille with black accents. Inside, 2022 F-150 Platinum models equipped with the Black Appearance Package add a series of black appliques for a matching appearance.
The XLT, STX, Lariat, and Platinum Black Appearance Packages for the 2022 Ford F-150 join the existing Black Appearance Packages already available on the Ford Ranger and the Ford EcoSport SES, as Ford Authority previously reported, along with the Lariat Black Appearance Package for the 2021 Ford Super Duty. The blacked-out continues to grow in popularity, so Ford figures to continue to capitalize on this trend moving forward.
We’ll have more on the 2022 Ford F-150 soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford F-Series news, Ford F-150 news, and ongoing Ford news coverage.

No colors anymore
I want them to turn black
Henry Ford is smiling in his parallel universe as his company inches and centimeters closer to the original mandate: “The buyer can have it in any color, as long as the color is black”.
Personally, I would buy a black-package truck. As my ass gets fatter, the truck would make me look thinner.
I think it’s imperative that I get this truck.
