FoMoCo products are no stranger to Wards Auto’s award lists, as the 2020 Lincoln Aviator landed on the organizations’ 10 Best Interior List last year, while both the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E with its electrified powertrain and the 2021 Ford F-150 and its 3.5L PowerBoost V6 made the 2021 Ward’s 10 Best Engines list. Now, the Mach-E has scored its second-straight award with a spot on the 2021 Wards 10 Best Interior List.
In a world where automotive interiors have become increasingly complex with countless buttons and screens, Wards called the Mach-E’s “more modern take on luxury” to be a “refreshing change,” even if the all-electric crossover isn’t technically classified as a luxury vehicle. Regardless, it certainly looks like a premium cabin, thanks to “its sleek ivory-and-black cabin and minimal switchgear,” Wards notes.
The Mach-E judged for the 2021 Wards 10 Best Interior List was a premium all-wheel drive model, so it was fitted with perforated leatherette, contrast stitching, and black and ivory finishes for a more luxurious appearance. Another premium touch, as Wards pointed out, is the EV’s matte plastic trim, which is textured for a nicer look than the average cheap plastic found in most vehicles these days.
Other notable features included black-and-white check-patterned fabric on the door trim and instrument panel, a basketweave pattern inside the cupholders and on the wireless charging pad, aluminum-look trim on the volume and gear selector knobs, and both carbon-fiber look and piano-black trim in various other places around the interior.
On top of its good looks, Wards also praised the fact that all of the Mach-E’s switchgear is easy to reach and use, and that includes the giant 15.5-inch touchscreen. The abundance of technology inside also works very well and isn’t laggy whatsoever, a problem that plagues many modern vehicles. Wards found the seats to be comfortable, while the second row is also suitable for adults, to boot, capping off another award for the multi-award-winning crossover.
