The Ford Edge just received a refresh for the 2021 model year, consisting of minor styling tweaks and a number of tech upgrades, but as Ford Authority has reported over the last several weeks, the crossover is also getting a few updates for the 2022 model year as well. That includes an all-new Adventure Package for the 2022 Ford Edge SEL, too.
The 2022 Ford Edge SEL Adventure Package consists of several items, including 18-inch Carbonized Gray-painted aluminum wheels with P245/60R18 A/T tires, a Dark Carbonized Gray lower front bumper, black front grille pillar bars, black mirror caps, and black roof rack side rails on the outside, as well as Navy Pier ActiveX seats with orange stitching and Navy Pier accent stitching on the inside.
There are a few caveats that come along with the new Adventure Package, which is not available in conjunction with Iconic Silver, Forged Green, Star White, or Burgundy Velvet exterior paint colors. The optional package features an MSRP of $1,295.
The Adventure Package is one of a few changes in store for the 2022 Edge, which is ditching its standard front-wheel drive configuration for all-wheel drive, as Ford Authority reported back in August. That major change corresponds with a roughly $2,000 price increase for the crossover. The 2022 Edge is also losing its illuminated glovebox, as Ford Authority recently reported, while the ST will drop its Ford Performance paint color option in favor of Atlas Blue.
For the 2021 model year, the Edge received an updated rear liftgate with more prominent and relocated badging, as well as two new exterior colors – Carbonized Gray and Lithium Gray. Inside, the 2021 Edge gained a new standard 12-inch infotainment screen, SYNC 4A, two additional USB ports, a Ceramic interior option on Titanium Elite models, and a cloth interior option for SEL trim.
As Ford Authority reported in June of 2020, the next-generation Edge has reportedly been canceled, as the Ford Oakville Assembly Plant – which builds the Edge and the Lincoln Nautilus – will be converted to produce a total of five EV models in the coming years.
