After months of spy shots and leaked information, the refreshed 2022 Ford Expedition was officially revealed just last month ahead of a more comprehensive redesign coming in 2024. However, the revised SUV isn’t scheduled to launch until Q1 of next year, and Ford Authority spies just spotted this 2022 Ford Expedition prototype out driving around wearing a pretty snazzy-looking set of wheels that should be of interest to prospective customers.
The wheels present on this 2022 Ford Expedition prototype are 20-inch bright machined aluminum units with dark Carbonized Gray-painted pockets, and will only be available on the Expedition XLT High Package when paired with the optional Special Edition Package, or the Limited 301A, which is the standard equipment group for that trim.
Aside from these wheels, the 2022 Expedition Special Edition Package comes with a host of additional equipment and features including P275/55R20 BSW all-season tires, LED fog lamps with accent color painted bezels, LED reflector headlamps with signature lighting and bright bezels, side mirrors with turn signal indicators, and a vinyl center console inside the cabin.
The Expedition Special Edition Package also comes equipped with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which includes a variety of driver-assist features including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering Assist, and Speed Sign Recognition, Evasive Steering, Intersection Assist, Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, and Dynamic Brake Support. Other features include navigation with live traffic, predictive destinations, and route guidance, as well as front parking sensors.
The 2022 Ford Expedition introduces a few exterior styling tweaks to the full-size SUV, including new standard LED headlights, taillights, and wheel choices, as well as a twin-spar mesh grille and fog lamps with chrome surrounds on the new-for-2022 Expedition Platinum. Inside the cabin, the 2022 Expedition features a standard 12-inch infotainment screen or an optional 15.5-inch display and an available 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster. The full-size SUV also gains a brand new, off-road-focused Timberline edition – which starts at around $67,000 – and Expedition Stealth Edition Performance Package with black ovals.
We’ll have much more on the 2022 Ford Expedition soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Expedition news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
