If there’s one thing 2021 Ford Bronco owners aren’t lacking for, it’s aftermarket parts and accessories, even though FoMoCo offers plenty of its own upgrades as options and via the automaker’s expansive catalog. Replacement bumpers figure to be among the most popular parts owners seek out, particularly ones that feature winch integration, especially those that don’t block the front camera, which is quite useful for off-roading. Now, another option has emerged for those in the market for such an item – the 2021 Ford Bronco winch bumper from Bay Area Metal Fab.
Bay Area Metal Fab’s 2021 Ford Bronco winch bumper certainly looks the part and has the beefy construction to back it up. The bumper is made from a mixture of 1/4-inch and 3/16-inch steel, while the integrated winch plate is made from 1/4-inch steel that’s been formed and gusseted. A lot of thought went into the placement of the winch as well – since it’s mounted lower and directly in front of the frame rails, it reduces the lever arm pulling action that occurs with winches mounted above the bumper.
Buyers have a number of winch options to choose from as well, including the Warn Evo10k and other smaller-sized 10,000-pound winches, which is one downside to the recessed mount. Regardless, Bay Area Metal Fab also sells an underhood kit that relocates the winch solenoid to the engine bay, which is recommended for most winches when using this bumper.
The benefits seemingly outweigh this trade-off, however, in terms of the improved visibility and unrestricted airflow the bumper provides. The bumper also features D-ring mounts that are cut from 3/4-inch steel, an integrated light mount with room for three fog lights on each side, and a durable powder coating.
There are many options available, including a bull bar and brackets for Lux Package-equipped Broncos and the requisite sensors, all with a starting MSRP of $1,699. Bay Area Metal Fab is currently taking pre-orders for the new winch bumper, which is expected to ship in around four months. The first batch of pre-orders will receive a 28 percent discount off the retail price, though the company did not say how many pre-orders will get the discount. However, this offer is current as of this writing.
