Earlier this year, Ford Authority reported that the 2022 Ford Maverick would be launching in Brazil and Argentina, and last month, the very first units arrived at the Port of Vitória in Espírito Santo ahead of the Maverick’s launch in Brazil next year. Now, a short time before that happens, the 2022 Ford Maverick has officially launched in Argentina.
Unlike the North American version of the Maverick, which is also sold with a hybrid powertrain, the compact pickup will only be available with Ford’s 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 in Argentina, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It will also only be sold in XLT and Lariat trims – not the less expensive XL trim, with the former available in two-wheel drive configuration and the latter available in four-wheel drive configuration with the FX4 Off-Road Package.
The Argentinian 2022 Ford Maverick is available in six colors – Oxford White, Panther Black, Velocity Blue, Mercury Gray, Cactus Gray, and Silver Gray, and features an MSRP of $3,929,000 AR ($39,310) for the XLT version and $4,958,000 AR ($49,610 USD) for the Lariat version. Like all Mavericks, the Argentinian version of the pickup is produced at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico
The Maverick is just the latest Blue Oval model to launch in South America, which, as Ford Authority reported early this year, will continue to source its vehicles from outside markets after FoMoCo ended production in Brazil back in January after losing roughly $12 billion in South America over the last decade. The 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid went on sale in Argentina last month, as did its more off-road-focused brethren, the 2021 F-150 Raptor, joining the Ford Mondeo Hybrid Titanium, Ford Mustang Mach 1, and 2021 Ford F-150 Lariat Luxury 5.0L 4×4 AT.
We’ll have much more on the Maverick soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Maverick news and continuous Ford news coverage.
