Ford Motor Company sales decreased 27 percent to 400,843 units during the third quarter of 2021 in the United States. Sales fell at bothFoMoCo brands – Ford as well as Lincoln.
Brand & Model Sales
Ford sales decreased 26.8 percent to 383,805 units:
- Ford Bronco sales totaled 9,403 units
- Bronco is flowing to dealer lots with in-transit inventory up nearly 200 percent in September compared to August
- Ford Bronco Sport sales totaled 20,690 units
- Ford E-Series sales decreased 1.66 percent to 9,132 units
- Ford EcoSport sales decreased 51.95 percent to 8,190 units
- Ford Edge sales decreased 40.5 percent to 15,596 units
- Ford Escape sales decreased 43.99 percent to 26,299 units
- Ford Expedition sales decreased 13.95 percent to 16,696 units
- Ford Explorer sales decreased 29 percent to 41,933 units
- The retail sales were up 155 percent in September compared to August on improved availability
- Ford F-Series sales decreased 22.04 percent to 172,799 units
- F-Series continued to expand its lead as America’s best-selling truck for 2021
- The nameplate maintained the same market share year-over-year, despite limited inventories due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage
- Through September 2021, F-Series sales totaled 534,831 pickups on record turn rates, representing 120,442 more trucks than its second-place competitor, as Ford continues to work on filling new orders placed during the semiconductor chip shortage
- F-150 Lightning reservations have now surpassed the 150,000 mark, with over 75 percent of these reservations coming from outside Ford
- Ford Fusion sales decreased 99.23 percent to 225 units

- Ford GT sales decreased 20 percent to 40 units
- Ford Heavy Trucks sales increased 20.17 percent to 3,199 units
- Ford Maverick sales totaled 506 units
- The model recorded its first deliveries at the end of September

- Ford Mustang Mach-E sales totaled 5,880 units
- Retail sales expanded 9.2 percent in September
- With 18,855 units of the Mach-E sold through September, Mach-E ranks second in full electric SUV sales behind Tesla’s Model Y
- Over-the-air modem activation rates for Mach-E are the highest in Ford’s portfolio at 97 percent
- Ford Ranger sales decreased 49.44 percent to 14,335 units
- Ford Transit sales decreased 30.35 percent to 27,086 units
- Ford Transit Connect sales decreased 75.44 percent to 2,681 units
Lincoln sales decreased 38.2 percent to 17,038 units:
- Lincoln Aviator sales decreased 40.86 percent to 3,618 units
- Lincoln Continental sales decreased 90.59 percent to 122 units
- The model was discontinued
- Lincoln Corsair sales decreased 50.34 percent to 3,498 units
- Lincoln MKZ sales decreased 99.13 percent to 32 units
- The model was discontinued
- Lincoln Nautilus sales increased 16.95 percent to 6,749 units
- Retail sales of model were up 37.5 percent over a year ago and realized its best September retail sales performance in 14 years
- Nautilus was Lincoln’s best-selling vehicle for the month of September
- Lincoln Navigator sales decreased 16.95 percent to 3,019 units
During the first nine months of the 2021 calendar year, Ford Motor Company sales decreased 7 percent to 1,397,504 units.
