2021 Ford Mustang Recalled Over Side Curtain Airbag Safety Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021 Ford Mustang models over a side curtain airbag safety issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the side curtain airbag inflators may have been manufactured with the incorrect amount of compressed gas.

The hazards: airbags with the incorrect amount of compressed gas can lead to improper airbag inflation.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: side curtain airbag inflators.

Affected vehicles: select 2021 Ford Mustang models built at the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant.

Number of vehicles affected: 93

The fix: dealers will replace the affected side curtain airbags, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which began on December 15th, 2021. The Ford reference number for this recall is 21C37.

  1. So 93 cars “affected”….Does that mean only 93 cars included in the recall? Or 93 cars found to have the defect so far?
