Consumer Reports has shown the Ford Expedition a lot of love this year. As Ford Authority previously reported, the organization deemed the 2021 model its pick for best large three-row SUV, most satisfying Large SUV and best large SUV for tall drivers. And now, the publication decided the 2022 Ford Expedition is a good option for shoppers looking at the large SUV segment. In fact, the organization recommends the 2022 Expedition as a better overall choice over the 2022 Nissan Armada, which it found generally unappealing.
CR recommends buyers pick the Expedition over the 2022 Nissan Armada Armada due to its disappointing ride quality, poor infotainment setup, and excessive gas guzzling.
“The slick and robust 390-hp, 5.6L V8 is strong, but fuel economy was a paltry 14 mpg in our tests,” the organization wrote. “Handling is clumsy, with slow steering and pronounced body roll,” it added. Combined with its below average reliability rating, the publication feels that the Armada’s shortcomings outweigh its positive attributes, like its spacious cabin.
By contrast, the 2022 Ford Expedition has excellent predicted ratings for driver satisfaction and dependability. Ford’s three-row SUV scored top marks for its standard Ford 3.5L EcoBoost V6, infotainment system, and standard safety and driver assist features. The organization thinks that consumers will appreciate the roomy, quiet and comfortable cabin too, and be wooed by its pricing.
This isn’t the first time that the publication decided to recommend a Ford vehicle over its rivals. As Ford Authority previously reported, Consumer Reports named the 2021 Ford Edge the better mid-size crossover over both the Chevy Blazer and Honda Passport.
As we previously reported, the 2022 Ford Expedition incorporates a mid-cycle refresh. Updates include a refreshed interior, exterior lighting, and the incorporation of Sync 4. Ford is also expanding the SUV’s utility by adding more rugged off-road editions, as well as expanded package options. The 2022 Ford Expedition will be produced at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant and is expected to launch in early 2022.
We’ll have more on the 2022 Expedition soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Expedition news and continuous Ford news coverage.

You can buy a 2022 Armada today but still no date when the 2022 Expedition will be out.
If Nissan were smart, it would sell the Armada as the Patrol, the name it bears elsewhere.
