For the 2021 model year, the Ford Expedition came with a universal garage door opener as standard equipment on XLT and up trims. However, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that the 2022 Ford Expedition has gained a standard universal garage door opener across all trims, meaning that it’s now included on fleet XL and five-seater XL STX trims, too.
This addition is one of many changes that have taken place on the refreshed 2022 Ford Expedition, as Ford Authority has reported over the last several months. These changes include a host of exterior styling tweaks such as new standard LED headlights, taillights, and wheel choices. The full-size SUV also gains a brand new, off-road-focused Timberline edition and Stealth Edition Performance Package for 2022.
On the inside, the 2022 Expedition gets a standard 12-inch infotainment screen running SYNC 4 or an optional 15.5-inch display with SYNC 4A, as well as an available 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster, Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving feature, and Power-Up software for over-the-air updates.
As Ford Authority reported last month, the 2022 Expedition also gets three new Outfitters cargo packages that will be available as dealer-installed options. Meanwhile, the Texas Edition will carry over to the new model year, though the 2022 Expedition will be losing its second-row audio controls on most trims.
The 2022 Expedition has earned a couple of accolades in recent months, including winning a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award for Best Full-Size SUV, while Consumer Reports recently recommended the Expedition over the 2022 Nissan Armada.
The 2022 Ford Expedition will continue to be built at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant and is scheduled to launch in Q1 of 2022.
