Ford Maverick Tremor Trademark Filing In Chile Hints At Future Model

Ford Motor Company has filed to trademark Maverick Tremor in Chile, Ford Authority has learned.

Filed on October 12th, 2021, and assigned serial number 1486391, the application contains the goods and services description of “Motor vehicles, namely, automobiles, pick-up trucks, electric vehicles, sport utility vehicles, off-road vehicles, and their structural parts.”

The Ford Authority Take

The 2022 Ford Maverick is scheduled to launch next year in the South American countries of Brazil and Argentina, as Ford Authority recently reported. Way back in February, Ford Authority was the first to report that a rugged, off-road-oriented Maverick trim was in the works, complete with a uniquely tuned suspension, special wheels, and all-terrain tires, among other enhancements.

Ford Authority reported back in August that FoMoCo isn’t ruling out a street performance-oriented or off-road-focused variant of the new Maverick pickup. The latter would presumably go beyond what The Blue Oval includes with the Maverick’s optional FX4 Off-Road Package, which is similar to what’s already available with the Ford Ranger Tremor, Ford F-150 Tremor, and Ford Super Duty Tremor.

Last month, Ford Authority spies spotted a unique Maverick prototype out driving around wearing a more aggressive front fascia with black grille center bars and a blacked-out Blue Oval. The center portion of the front bumper was completely different as well and was open at the bottom with a gloss black plastic piece present that could possibly serve as a stand-in for a production bash or skid plate. That particular prototype was also equipped with the FX4 Package and its beefier tires.

It would certainly make perfect sense to add a Ford Maverick Tremor to the compact pickup’s lineup, considering the popularity of off-road-focused vehicles these days. It would also add some continuity to The Blue Oval’s truck lineup, as the Maverick is currently the only Ford pickup that isn’t available in Tremor form. Now, this trademark seems to indicate that such a model is indeed potentially in the works.
