The 14th generation Ford F-150 – when equipped with Ford’s 3.5L PowerBoost V6 and Pro Power Onboard generator – has proven to be an incredibly useful tool over the past year-plus, saving the day after tornados, winter storms, and even wedding receptions. That usefulness has earned the PowerBoost a number of awards in recent months, and it also makes this custom 2021 Ford F-150 Lariat Sport Hybrid FX4 built by Hypertech for the 2021 SEMA Show that much cooler, too.
This 2021 Ford F-150 Lariat Sport Hybrid FX4 was built specifically for John Garrett – a professional bass fisherman – to be the ultimate vehicle for that sort of job description/hobby, as well as an outdoorsman’s dream, in general. As such, it’s equipped with everything one might need to go off the grid for a few days, whether it’s for fun or just to get away from the stresses of everyday life.
Mechanically speaking, this F-150 – one of many custom examples of the 2021 SEMA Truck of the Year – has been treated to a one-off Borla cat-back exhaust with black tips for a little more sound and power, while a Bilstein three-inch lift kit gives it a bit more ground clearance. That lift also makes room for a set of 35×12.5-inch Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires, which are wrapped around 18-inch bronze forged Centerline wheels.
From there, the parts list gets rather long, starting with a host of goodies from the Ford catalog such as an ARB portable air compressor, an ARB refrigerator/freezer, a Leer bed cap with a locker and storage, Yakima fishing rod carriers, black step bars, a bed slide, and Amp Research steps.
Rigid provided a ton of lighting and subsequent mounts for the build as well, including its underbody rock light kit, a 50-inch Adapt E-Series LED light bar, a pair of black DEG DC scene lights, a D-Series Pro Specter diffused surface mount, a D-Series Pro spot diffused midnight surface mount, and a yellow D-Series fog light surface mount.
Rounding out the laundry list of parts for this ultimate fisherman’s build is a Yakima LoadWarrior roof cargo basket, Warn front and rear bumpers, a Warn VR EVO 12-S winch, a grill, microwave, ice maker, washer and dryer, and prep sink – everything one might need to get lost in the woods for a few days.
With a whole catalog of upgrades thrown at it, if this killer custom F-150 hybrid isn’t an outdoorsman/fisherman’s ultimate dream, well, we don’t know what is.
