2022 Ford Explorer Heads To Vietnam In February

FoMoCo makes a considerable profit on a number of models that it exports to other countries, including the Ford Explorer and Ford Mustang, both of which have proven to be quite profitable in Europe. That includes the Explorer Plug-In Hybrid, the most powerful variant in the crossover’s lineup that isn’t available in North America. The popular crossover launched in China back in 2020 due to heavy demand, and now, the 2022 Ford Explorer is headed to Vietnam next month as well.

“Providing well-loved, high-quality products to accompany customers’ dynamic and modern lifestyles has always been the top priority of Ford Vietnam, especially during the challenging time of the pandemic,” said Pham Van Dung, Managing Director of Ford Vietnam. “The 2022 Ford Explorer is a large SUV which can meet all your needs from interior space, comfort, safety, to its powerful performance. The Explorer helps leverage the position of Ford SUVs in the Vietnamese market.”

Vietnamese customers will be able to purchase a 2022 Ford Explorer starting February 15th, the automaker has announced, where it will be priced starting at VND 2,366,000,000 ($104,160 USD). The Explorers headed to Vietnam are built at the Ford Chicago Assembly Plant in the U.S. and then exported to the country.

Ford didn’t provide any information regarding which trim levels of the 2022 Explorer will be available in Vietnam, but it did say that exterior colors are limited to grey, red, black, and white. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available as an option. In terms of powertrains, the only option listed is Ford’s 2.3L EcoBoost I-4, which is rated to produce 301 horsepower and 431.5 Nm (318 pound-feet) of torque and is mated to the automaker’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

“The all-new Ford Explorer is one of the most groundbreaking models from the Ford Motor Group over the past decade,” said Ruchik Shah, Deputy Managing Director of Ford Vietnam. “With more than eight million vehicles sold globally, the Ford Explorer has been the best-selling SUV in the U.S. throughout its 30 years of development. I believe this large SUV will meet the needs of modern, comfortable use, and lifestyle, and be ready for customers’ journeys of discovery in the Vietnam market.”

  3. Ford rarely boasts of it, but they build more vehicles here in the U.S. than any other manufacturer, employ more than any other, and export more vehicles than any other.
