The 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is receiving a few updates for the new model year, including the addition of Code Orange – which is also available on the Ford F-150 Raptor and 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor – to its available exterior color palette, as Ford Authority reported back in November. Now, Ford Authority spies have spotted a 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 finished in Cyber Orange, giving us our first real-world look at this combination.
In addition to Code Orange, Brittany Blue also joins the 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 lineup  – which it shares with the Mustang Coastal Limited Edition available with EcoBoost Premium coupe and convertible models – when buyers opt for the new Heritage Edition. The Heritage Edition also offers two stripe options – Wimbledon White vinyl or hand-painted stripes finished in either Wimbledon White or Absolute Black.
For 2022, the Shelby GT500 is also available with the optional Handling Package and the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, while the previously available Carbon Fiber Handling Package has been discontinued, as Ford Authority reported back in November. The Carbon Fiber Track Pack adds 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels, an exposed carbon fiber GT4 rear wing, a rear-seat delete, and Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires to the ultimate pony car.
In addition to these changes, the rest of the 2022 Mustang lineup gets a revised California Special package and the new Stealth Edition Appearance Package. There are also a couple of deletions to note, as the 2022 Ford Mustang will drop the Carbon Sport Interior Package, while the EcoBoost Premium will no longer be available with the Pony Package.
As Ford Authority exclusively reported recently, the 2022 Mustang GT and its 5.0L Coyote V8 will lose 10 horsepower and 10 pound-feet of torque as a result of changing emissions requirements, bringing output down to 450 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The 2022 Mustang entered production at the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant back on January 3rd, 2022, but has already faced one supply chain-related stoppage.
We’ll have more on the 2022 Mustang soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Mustang news and non-stop Ford news coverage.
