Long before the Ford F-150 Lightning became an all-electric pickup, it was a high-performance sport truck version of the venerable Ford F-150 that lasted two generations. This incredibly clean 1994 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning that’s up for grabs at Cars & Bids is from the first generation of that run and wearing bright red paint, it looks an awful lot like the one owned by Lady Gaga. That may or may not make it more desirable in one’s eyes, but those that aren’t fans of the famous singer still have plenty to love here.
With just over 40k miles showing on the odometer, this 1994 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is as clean as one might imagine, with flaws relegated to the typical rock chips, scratches, and other things present on vehicles that are decades old at this point. Otherwise, it’s in pretty stellar shape and is mostly devoid of modifications save for a set of aftermarket headlights and taillights, a tonneau cover, and an upgraded stereo system. There are no mileage discrepancies or accidents to be found, either, which is always good news.
Inside, this SVT Lightning is every bit as clean as the outside, with flawless gray cloth seats and virtually no problem areas to note, save for weak armrest glue and a crack in the dash plastic located underneath the gauge cluster. Otherwise, stepping foot in this cabin is akin to taking a time machine back to the mid-1990s.
Of course, the first-gen Lightning may look cool, but it’s what’s underneath that counts. In this case, that’s Ford’s 351 cubic-inch/5.8L V8 that was originally rated to produce 240 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque, which it sends to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Add it all up, and the “original” F-150 Lightning is a truly special vehicle, and this one is certainly nicer than most.
