In many parts of the world, the Ford Ranger plays a vital role in saving lives, including on a water rescue team in the Czech Republic, a group of French firefighting heroes, and the Fire Brigade Services in Slovenia. So it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that this Ford Ranger Raptor has been converted into a one-off fire rescue vehicle in Finland, where the rugged pickup just reported for duty for the very first time at the Helsinki City Rescue Department.
This special Ford Ranger Raptor was converted into a fire-fighting machine by Arctic Trucks Finland, a Ford Qualified Modifier (QVM). Arctic Trucks also builds some pretty rugged Ford F-150 pickups with massive tires and various suspension upgrades that are capable of tackling even the deepest snow, showing off its capabilities on some of the toughest terrain on earth.
The Helsinki City Rescue Department’s Ranger Raptor is a one-off build, however, which was put together by Arctic Trucks with the help of a number of other aftermarket companies. The department chose the rugged off-roader because of its capabilities, and this particular pickup will be driven by the leader of the First Aid Department. A brush guard up front protects it from various obstacles both on and off the pavement, while a bevy of first-aid equipment in the bed – which is covered by a cap – helps the Ranger serve as a mobile field hospital of sorts.
“In this project, we truly had the possibility to utilize the expertise of our own team and partners widely, which made it professionally very interesting and special,” said Ville Viikari, Managing Director, Arctic Trucks Finland. “It was wonderful to get the opportunity to be part of developing and building this unique vehicle. And now it is ready to save lives in the Helsinki area.”
