Long before the Ford F-150 Lightning became an all-electric pickup, it was a high-performance sport truck version of the venerable Ford F-150 that lasted two generations, helping to usher in the then-burgeoning sport truck era and winning over the hearts of many, including famous crooner Lady Gaga, it seems. Now, this gorgeous 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning up for grabs at Bring a Trailer provides us with a nice reminder of that fact.
This amazing 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning looks nearly brand new, a side-effect of the fact that it has just 1,200 original miles on the clock. As one of just 5,276 examples produced in this particular model year, it’s also likely one of the nicer ones left and was a one-owner pickup until it was sold to the selling dealer. On the outside, the Raven Black exterior shines perfectly, with zero visible flaws to speak of.
Rolling on a set of 17-inch wheels wrapped with 275/60 Firestone Firehawk GTA tires, this first-gen Lightning features all of the obvious signs of this special high-performance model, including its body-color bumpers and grille, Lightning badges, and an optional tubular rear bumper.
The interior of this F-150 Lightning is factory fresh as well, sporting flawless Dark Charcoal gray cloth, along with amenities including a cassette stereo, cruise control, air conditioning, power locks, windows, and mirrors. As is the case with all first-gen models, this pickup is powered by Ford’s 5.8L/351 cubic-inch Windsor V8, which is fitted with cast-iron GT40 heads that help it produce 240 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential with 4.10 gears.
First-gen F-150 Lightning examples don’t get much nicer than this, and collectors have certainly taken notice, bidding this fine sport truck up to $43,000 – as of this writing – with six days left to go in the auction.
