In just a few months since its launch, the 2022 Ford Maverick has proven to be a hit among both consumers and critics alike, turning in just five days on dealer lots, winning over Millenials and Gen Z, owners of Blue Oval sedans, first-time truck buyers, and female shoppers. The Maverick’s impressive fuel economy and sub-$20k starting price are among its most appealing attributes, though most buyers thus far seem to be opting for more expensive versions, while dealer markups have also been an issue. Additionally, the Maverick Hybrid just began shipping after a delay and is already sold out for the 2022 model year. Regardless, it’s still interesting to see what options 2022 Ford Maverick buyers are equipping their pickups thus far in this thread at Maverick Truck Club.
This list is unofficial, as it only contains data from members of the forum, but it still encompasses around 4,000 owners – a pretty sizable chunk. So far, there’s plenty of fascinating data contained in this database, starting with the fact that over half – 51.3 percent – have opted for XLT trim, followed by the more luxurious Lariat at 29.1 percent, the XL at 12.7 percent, and the First Edition at 6.9 percent.
Engine-wise, most – 62.4 percent – have stuck with Ford’s 2.5L Atkinson cycle hybrid, while 37.6 percent have opted for FoMoCo’s 2.0L EcoBoost I-4. The most popular color thus far is Area 51 with a 20.4 percent take rate, followed by Velocity Blue at 15.5 percent, Cactus Gray at 13.8 percent, and Carbonized Gray at 12.3 percent. A whopping 52.7 percent went with the 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, while 72.2 percent decided to forego the 4K Tow Package and 83.8 percent didn’t purchase the FX4 Off-Road Package, signaling that most of these owners don’t plan on towing things or going off-roading in their Maverick, perhaps.
In terms of where these owners live, most reside in California, which is no big surprise given the fact that the majority of reservation holders live there, as Ford Authority reported last August. Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Michigan round out the top five in that regard.
We’ll have much more on the Maverick soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Maverick news and non-stop Ford news coverage.

Not sold out for 2023. It hasn’t opened up yet. Not until August
The low 4K tow package stat is not a surprise, as the 4K tow package requires AWD. AWD isn’t available for the hybrid. This is much more the driving factor than “most people don’t want it.”
I had to pick between AWD/4K and Hybrid. I went with hybrid.
Ordered mine in August 2021. Still waiting.
Yup if 62%+ of those reporting have Hybrids then the highest possible take rates for the FX4 and 4k tow package is 38%. Taking that into consideration it means that almost 75% of EcoBoost buyers went for the 4k tow package and over 40% of EB buyers went for FX4.
XLT makes up the meat of the market for the other trucks and Ford is trying not to sell the loss leader XL so no surprise that the XLT is so popular, with low price being part of the Maverick’s appeal.
Not only I’d Ford not trying to sell the xl version, but the xl is ridiculous. I had a reservation for the xl until I realized it didn’t come with cruse control. That was data I had to hunt for. Nowhere on the desktop site does it say that but I found it on the mobile site when comparing to the xlt. Can you imagine a 600 mile range vehicle without cruse control?
Read up on Rostra, an aftermarket provider of cruise control for many vehicles. They have an ecoboost version available currently, and a YT video demonstrating the simplicity of installation. The version is available on web sites starting under $300. A verion for the hybrid is expected as soon as they can have access to a physical sample.
I would have purchased an XL had I known of availability and ease of installation.

What makes anyone think that Ford will deliver anything?
Ordered my Bronco 3/09/21 with a 7/27/20 reservation. Nothing but delays and build quality issues. I will be lucky to get it before 2023. How many people jumped on the Lightning reservation? Mustang Mach-E?
Now the Maverick? Good luck folks…
If it’s worth it you will wait. But by that time the competition will have caught up. I had a Mach E reservation and didn’t go through with purchase. Two years later I will get an improved version.
While I’m not keen to have a CVT transmission, the real deal breaker for me is no Sirius radio availability.
The Maverick has an eCVT transmission. It’s a completely different animal. No belts or pulleys. Metal gears and electric motors in a planetary gear arrangement. They have proven to be very reliable after around 20 years in production.
Reliable, yes, but great power robber. My 2016 CR-V, which I will trade in or sell IF my Maverick I ordered last summer is ever delivered, is a dog compared to my 2013 CR-V with a 4 speed auto. And they both get the same MPG,
If you take a look at TFL on YT, for one, you can see that the hybrid is a pretty quick machine. If you watch Tim on LongMacarthur Ford, he demonstrated a retail customers hybrid acceleration onto a Kansas interstate onramp, reaching 70 prior to the ramp starting to merge into the slow lane. The eCVT is a mover from what I saw demonstrated.

If you have a smart cellphone, you can use Sirius app to send audio to the radio. It may be possible to load the APK onto the radio. I think there is a Sirius receiver module that can be connected via the USB.
It should not be a deal breaker for that alone.

You can connect to your phone and run the Sirius App via Bluetooth or Sirius will offer you a free radio that plugs into you truck Aux input or through your FM Radio and is powere via your 12 volt Lighter socket.
Kevin,
Not to be critical but Sirius only provides compressed audio. Today it is easy to connect your phone via bluetooth or 3.5mm connector and stream from your phone. In short, there are streaming platforms such as Tidal & Qobuz, Spotify-(boo spotify) & others that stream uncompressed music for a monthly fee. BUT, there is a noticeable improvement in the sound. And, to further improve (blow you away) one can use a small portable DAC such as the dragonfly to insert between your phone and the 3.5mm plug which allows you to stream from your phone to the speakers in the cab.
These numbers are skewed by the fact that the dealers did most of the ordering. And were the ones picking what they would have on their lots. Most of the customers that were interested, basically took what was available. Which happened to be the higher trimmed trucks ordered by the dealers. Not genuinely ordered by the customer. The dealers don’t like to give up their order slots. And they don’t fill those slots with lower end , lower profit models.
Not true.
Most of people custom ordered their Maverick.
When I ordered mine, I had to educate the salesperson on all the options.
Ford still hasn’t found the “other” group of Maverick buyers: Those who will flat-tow their Maverick behind motorhomes. While there are many of us, we are still waiting for our hybrids and for Roadmaster and Blue Ox to get the baseplates developed so you won’t see any towed Mavericks for a couple more months. Ford abysmally failed to notice this group of buyers for C-Max sales, never marketing to the RV crowd. Hope they are smarter this time. I also hope they add AWD to the hybrid, leaving it towable. They would save many RVers from buying Wranglers to flat tow.
Saw one sell on Mecum at no reserve, I would say for less then its sticker price.
Engine-wise? Stop putting the word wise behind nouns.
I ordered a maverick lariat at my age of 75 I need all the comfort I can get
Ordered my 2022 Maverick hybrid end of August 2021 was told by dealer I should receive it by end of the year. Well here it is January 5 and no confirmation that it is headed for projection yet.
I wish Ford would just crank up production and PRODUCE the vehicles they advertise. Reserved one four months back and get confusing updates. How do they expect customers to wait and wait?
Is this”Maverick” being manufactured in AMERICA….or will it comes from another country?
Assembled from parts around the world in Hermosillo, Mexico. The plant is well-regarded as far as quality of workmanship and defects. I have yet to find assembly errors or defective parts in mine. The engine & transmission(ecoboost) are from USA, and I expect electronics from the far east. Hermosillo produced the Fusion in recent years, produces the Bronco Sport and Maverick currently, from what I can ascertain.

Ordered 7/8/21 velocity blue, echo boost ,4k tow pkg luxury pkg, sunroof, co pilot 360, full size spare, touch link bed lights, hard tri fold tonneau and floor liners got confirmation email and not a word since 6 months ago. Very disappointing $33500 list price and still no build date when they will start and i sell them for them.
If you did not get an order confirmation email from Ford Motor Company immediately after your dealer entered the order into ‘DORA’, then your dealer may have messed up. After my order of 7/19, received an email from the dealer around 10AM, and got an email from Ford by 10:15.
The ecoboost 4WD/4K tow package was not as constrained as the hybrids, and if your dealer did get the order entered, the only thing that should be slowing it down is his ‘allocation’ of assembled vehicles, based mostly on previous sales. Your order may be produced after later orders if your dealer does not get assembled vehicles allocated.
Check with your dealer and/or Ford(there is an 800 number) for confirmation from the DORA system. They should be able to provide a printout showing the date and time the order was entered, along with all other pertinent information about the options selected. Retail orders, such as yours, were to take precedence over dealer-ordered trucks for showroom stock. I suggest making contact with the dealer and requesting details.

truck is a xlt awd
Body is too close to the ground to get through even moderate snow.
It is right in line with the base F150, Ranger and most SUVs that get around in the snow very well. The whole country is not buried in snow. Lived in CT all my life and unless you had a car with 5 to 6 inches of clearance there is no problem.
I ordered my hot pepper red FX4 offroad spraying in bedline a tonneau cover upgraded rims and tires all weather floor mats on October 8th picked it up January 17th
I ordered my XLT in DEC 2021 and still waiting for my vin # My bet is I will never get my truck
