Back in December, Ford Performance added a functional beadlock ring kit for the Ford Bronco to its ever-expanding catalog. Now, those selections are growing even more, as a full beadlock wheel kit is available for all 2021 Bronco models with either Badlands or Sasquatch Package wheels that include the beadlock ring kit and are also compatible with the recently-released tire pressure monitoring kit for the Ford Bronco, to boot.
The 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands beadlock wheel kit is sold under part number M-1007-DC17B and fits all 2021 Bronco models. It includes everything one needs to convert a Bronco to off-road beadlocking capability, including one 17×8-inch Gloss Black beadlock capable wheel, the same Carbonized Gray trim ring found on stock Badlands models, a Bronco center cap, and Ford’s beadlock ring kit.
Meanwhile, the Sasquatch beadlock wheel kit is sold under part number M-1007-DC17A and includes a 17×8.5-inch Gloss Black beadlock capable wheel, the same trim ring with a warm alloy finish found in the Sasquatch Package, a Bronco center cap, and Ford’s beadlock ring kit. Both of these kits retail for $770.
Beadlocks have become popular with off-roaders in recent years because they lock the bead of a tire to the wheel, which offers a number of advantages. Beadlocks allow owners to drop the air pressure in a tire to a very low level without having to worry about the tire slipping off the wheel, increasing the tire’s contact patch and improving traction on a variety of slippery surfaces such as rocks, sand, and snow.
On the flip side, bead locks are not DOT-approved and, subsequently, are not legal for road use, are heavier than non-bead lock wheels, and are more expensive than conventional wheels. Regardless, for hardcore off-roaders, bead locks offer a number of distinct advantages that more than compensate for those cons.
