More than a year after its launch, the Ford Bronco Sport remains a highly sought-after item among car shoppers, as dealer inventory is turning in just 17 days while used prices for the rugged crossover are actually trending higher than new. Thus, it should also come as no major surprise that the Ford Bronco Sport was also among the top 20 fastest-selling used cars in January, according to new data from iSeeCars, joining its big brother – the Ford Bronco – in that regard.
It may seem unusual for the Bronco Sport – which is barely a year old – to wind up as such a hot-selling used vehicle, but with used prices trending higher than new, many owners are flipping their crossovers for a profit. As a result, the Bronco Sport ranked as the 18th fastest-selling used vehicle last month, taking 30.4 days, on average, to move, with a rather lofty average transaction price of $40,103.
Making matters worse, Ford recently changed its Bronco allocation formula, as Ford Authority reported yesterday, and now Bronco Sport sales are directly tied to Bronco allocation. Ford reportedly tweaked this allocation formula back in October, at which time it began rewarding dealers who sell more Bronco Sports with additional Bronco allocations. This formula also heavily favors bigger, large market dealerships, which will be receiving more Bronco Sports to sell, and in turn, more Broncos.
Meanwhile, the Bronco Sport has earned its fair share of accolades over the course of the last several months, including securing a spot on Consumer Reports‘ recommended vehicles list and being named one of the best SUVs on the market that cost less than $30k.
We’ll have more on the Bronco Sport soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Bronco Sport news and continuous Ford news coverage.
