Ford CEO Farley Says Ford Mustang Mach-E CR Pick Is A ‘Proud Moment’

As Ford Authority reported last week, the Ford Mustang Mach-E recently supplanted the Tesla Model 3 as Consumer ReportsTop EV Pick for 2022. This was a big moment for The Blue Oval, given the fact that the Model 3 had held that distinction for the previous two years. Thus, it should come as no surprise that FoMoCo CEO Jim Farley is quite proud of the fact that the company’s EV crossover was able to bring it home.

“I have to tell you that is an incredibly proud moment for us at Ford and one that really serves as a first football of our work,” Farley said during a virtual fireside chat with auto analyst Rod Lache at the Wolfe Research Global Auto, Auto Tech, and Mobility Conference on Wednesday, February 23rd.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E earned CR‘s 2022 Top EV Pick by accumulating a higher overall score than the Model 3, which is determined using a variety of factors including safety, owner satisfaction, predicted reliability, and road tests. The consumer organization noted that the Mach-E offers superior ride quality, a more intuitive and easier to operate infotainment system, and better reliability thus far than the Model 3, as well as its more direct competitor, the Model Y.

Meanwhile, this is just the latest distinction earned by the Mustang Mach-E, which has racked up many of them over the past year or so as it continues to turn quickly on dealer lots. That recognition includes grabbing a spot on Consumer Reportsrecommended cars list, ranking second in J.D. Power’s 2022 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study, being named one of the most satisfying electric SUVs to own, and holding down a spot as one of the most considered electrified vehicles for three quarters.

As for being the “first football of our work,” as Farley refers to the Mach-E, it’s safe to presume that the forthcoming Ford F-150 Lightning will be the second when it launches this spring. Ford will undoubtedly aim to replicate its success with the all-electric pickup, and like the Mach-E, the automaker has already announced plans to vastly expand its planned production in the coming years, as well as its total projected EV production across the globe.

We’ll have more on the Mach-E soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Mustang Mach-E news and ongoing Ford news coverage.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
