Ford F-250 Wins 2022 Best CPO Value Award For 3/4 Ton Pickups

The Ford Super Duty has long been a favorite among truck fans, particularly those that routinely haul heavy loads across long distances. As it turns out – in spite of record used vehicle prices over the past year or so – the Ford F-250 also represents a solid value in the used vehicle market as well, at least certified pre-owned examples, as Vincentric has awarded the pickup its 2022 Best CPO Value award in the 3/4 ton truck segment.

The Ford F-250 earned this award by presenting customers with the lowest operating and maintenance costs in its class, with five-year ownership costs coming in 2.2 percent lower than expected.

The F-250 joins a few other Blue Oval products recently recognized by Vincentric in its annual certified pre-owned awards, including the Ford Fusion Energi, which topped the EV/PHEV class, Ford’s entire truck lineup, the Ford Flex, which took top honors in the large SUV segment, the Ford F-150, which won an award in the light-duty pickup segment, the Ford Transit Connect, which topped all rival vans in its segment, and the Ford Ranger, which took first place in the mid-size pickup segment.

Vincentric measures value by first looking at ownership costs, which it calculates by combining depreciation, insurance, repairs, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, finance, fuel, taxes, state fees, and opportunity costs. A vehicle’s expected cost of ownership is based on statistical models that correlate the price of a vehicle with the cost of ownership. Any vehicle that falls below the average value line is a better value than a vehicle that falls above the average value line. Based on that information, vehicles are assigned a value score of 1-5, with 5 representing the best value.

While used vehicle prices continue to set new records with each passing month, inventory has improved recently. Regardless, Ford’s Blue Advantage CPO program offers value via comprehensive limited warranty coverage, 24/7 roadside assistance, FordPass Rewards Points eligibility, and, as Ford Authority recently reported, a 14-day, 1,000-mile money-back guarantee. All of these benefits helped Ford enjoy a 26 percent increase in CPO sales last year.
