While no official police version of the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E exists as of yet, FoMoCo did build a prototype packing the Mach-E GT’s powertrain, which was good enough to become the first EV to pass Michigan State Police testing. That same testing also found that the Ford Mustang Mach-E is suitable for carrying police equipment. Meanwhile, the electrified crossover is already on duty in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the UK, and in New York City as a taxi cab, while the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will begin testing the Mach-E as a potential law enforcement vehicle early next year. Now, we can add Quebec, Canada, to this list, as the City of Repentigny has announced that it will employ a Mustang Mach-E as its very first all-electric police car.
The city’s Mach-E police cars are being converted for duty by a company called Cyberkar, which specializes in high-end technological solutions for emergency vehicles. The vehicle will be tested before it is put into service, as well as evaluated by a special committee that includes input from the local police department. Aside from things like acceleration and its ability to support add-ons like a bevy of lights, the Mach-E’s battery performance will also be evaluated before the crossover is put into service.
Cyberkar has spent a good bit of time reworking the stock Mach-E to better equip it for law enforcement, a process that included redesigning the interior ergonomics with input from workplace health and safety experts. On the outside, the Mach-E police vehicle features checkered “Battenburg markings,” which are commonly used in many regions around the world, including Europe. However, the vehicle’s look is also up for debate, so the final design may look considerably different.
“We’re extremely proud to have put words into action, not just in terms of reducing our eco-footprint, but also by showing our willingness to take care of our employees and ensure their health and safety,” said Repentigny Mayor Nicolas Dufour. “It takes a forward-looking administration to dare to make such a change in Quebec.”
We’ll have more on the Mach-E soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Mustang Mach-E news and continuous Ford news coverage.

Jingle bells FORD does smell MUSTANG laid a turd. Though they tried the battery fried the back guys got away Heyyyy!!!!!!🤪
i dont think its going to pass approval. yes, it is "quick" but top speed in a quarter mile is barley over 100 mph. Definitely not going to be a highway patrol car with an absolute top speed of 130. I see this being more of a campus cruiser or a towny car. At least it has weight and can PIT a car better than the challengers.
