Ford Super Duty 7.3L V8 Crate Engine Storage Cradle Now Available

Ford’s 7.3L Godzilla V8 – which launched in the Ford Super Duty – has become an incredibly popular powerplant in the time since, and even became available as a crate engine nearly two years ago. The Ford Performance catalog has also grown to offer an A/C add-on kit for the naturally-aspirated engine, as well as a sport exhaust for Ford Super Duty applications. Now, the automaker has added a new 7.3L Godzilla V8 crate engine shipping and storage cradle to its ever-expanding catalog as well.

The cradle – listed under part number M-6038-73 – is a fabricated metal shipping and storage rack designed to fit the Godzilla crate engine. It’s the same exact piece used by Ford Performance to ship its Godzilla crate engines, and is finished in a black powder-coat. All of the necessary bolts are included, and the cradle base features four 1/2-inch holes to bolt the cradle to a pallet or for casters. The cradle retails for $200, and could prove useful for anyone looking to transport one of these crate engines safely.

We imagine that group will include at least a few folks, since the Godzilla crate offering has proven to be quite popular since its launch a couple of years ago. The vastly underrated powerplant supposedly makes 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, but is believed to be cranking out a lot more than that, especially after a stock Godzilla-swapped S197 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet ran a 10.97-second quarter-mile some time ago.

Modified examples have cranked out some seriously impressive power on the dyno in recent years as well. The retired director of Ford Racing Brian Wolfe, managed to extract 789 horsepower and 558 pound-feet of torque from the powerplant recently, in fact, without the use of a power adder or upgraded internals.
