1990 Ford Mustang LX 7-Up Edition Convertible Up For Auction

There have been many, many special and limited-edition Ford Mustang models over the years. Some have attracted huge collector interest, while others belong in the more quirky category that includes the 7-Up Edition, a car that found inspiration in a very unlikely place – the carbonated beverage of the same name. The idea actually came from a giveaway destined for the 1990 NCAA Basketball Championship that was canceled before the sporting event took place, though FoMoCo decided to move forward and sell them to the public. As a result, this very nice 1990 Ford Mustang LX 7-Up Edition – which is one of just 4,103 produced – is now up for grabs at Cars & Bids.

The 1990 Ford Mustang LX 7-Up Edition is easily recognizable thanks to its Deep Emerald Green paint, white soft top, and Oxford White interior. In this case, the original wheels have been replaced by a set of timeless “Pony” units, though the car is essentially stock otherwise, save for a set of commemorative plaques added to the inside and a bypassed heater core.

With 90k miles on the clock (actual mileage is unknown), this cool and quirky special edition pony car likely won’t sell for crazy money, which is a good thing for anyone who’s just looking for a unique car they can drive and enjoy. This one should also be rather fun to cruise around in, thanks to its 5.0-liter V8, which produces a reasonable 225 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, though it is backed up by a four-speed automatic instead of a stick.

Nicely equipped with leather, power locks, windows, and mirrors, cruise control, and air conditioning, this Fox Body has a lot going for it, though there are a few flaws present including a tear in the soft top, a dent or two, and a few scratches. But ultimately, this 7-Up Edition is certainly in nice shape for its age and mileage, and those in the know will take undoubtedly notice when they see it cruising down the road.
