The 2022 Ford Super Duty ushers in a few changes for the new model year, though nothing major after the popular pickup received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2020 model year. Ford continues to tweak the Super Duty in small ways, and the latest such move is the addition of a spray-in bedliner removal option, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority.
Officially called the 2022 Ford Super Duty Lariat Black Appearance Package Without Spray-In Bedliner, the removal option has its own order code – 17M – and essentially includes everything the Black Appearance Package comes with save for the spray-in bedliner. The package is optional on four-wheel drive Lariat Crew Cab F-250 and F-350 SRW models and is not available in conjunction with the Camper Package (471) or Snowplow/Camper Package (47B).
The Super Duty Lariat Black Appearance Package adds a host of features including black Ford Oval logos in the front and rear, body-color front and rear bumpers, gray and black box decals for 4×4, FX4, and Tremor, blackout surround headlamps for models equipped with LEDs, rear wheel well liners, and Ebony Black 6-inch angular running boards, fender vent surrounds, painted front grille bars, mirror caps, and 20-inch premium aluminum wheels wrapped with LT275/65R 20E OWL A/T tires.
It’s unclear why Ford has added this option to the 2022 Super Duty, but it’s likely that supply constraints can be blamed. The Super Duty – like much of The Blue Oval’s lineup – has faced its fair share of production challenges over the past several months. FoMoCo has removed a number of features recently in an effort to circumvent those shortages, including auto stop/start in the Ford Expedition and second-row climate controls in the Ford Explorer, with more omissions like this likely on the way.
In addition to this spray-in bedliner removal option, the 2022 Ford Super Duty has received some new interior and exterior color options, upgraded tech features, and the addition of some new and revised appearance packages. As Ford Authority exclusively reported last June, both King Ranch and Platinum trims now come standard with four-wheel drive, while Ford deleted the underhood service light from all models. The 2022 Super Duty XLT is now no longer available with the Tremor Off-Road Package, while the truck’s tailgate release operation has been changed following a recall addressing the matter.

Looks like ford has been slashing options on the ford super duty trucks in recent weeks. XLT no longer has a black appearance option. Many other small add ons no longer available too.
It is called decontenting. Ways for Ford to make more money, and make the production operation way more efficient, and push those costs onto the owner to have done on their own, possibly at ridiculous prices by the dealers.
Sounds like what just happened to me. I ordered an F-250 XLT w Black Out Package in December and picked it up last week. It did not come w Spray in Liner but my Dealer installed for me at no charge cause when I ordered it that was part of the deal.
Are you Happy With your Truck ???
Yes, Very Much
I noticed the cab marker light option was remived from their build screen. I hope that is by accident.
I ordered a Ford F350 2 months ago and still have not heard anything at all about when it is going to get built does anybody know what is going on or how long it takes.
I ordered a 22 F-350 XLT DRW on Oct. 23, 2021. The build was complete in February and I received a VIN# and window sticker. Six times the delivery date has been pushed back. Visibility report shows its sitting in a lot at the Kentucky truck plant. I don’t believe anything I’m being told by Ford or the dealership.
Hey don’t feel bad I ordered a 22 lariate in December21. Still only partially built.
I said screw it I found a King Ranch on a dealers lot in Louisiana
You would think Ford would communicate better with customers spending $70 or $80 thousand for a vehicle. At least information on what their doing to catch-up.
Ordered a F-250 Lariat with black appearance package November 11, 2021 in Ontario, Canada and dealer says not in production yet and they know nothing. Starting to get worried.
