The Q4 2021 sales performance gives the Bronco Sport a six percent segment share, increasing five percentage points from the year-ago quarter. The six percent figure is a fraction of the 20 percent share commanded by the RAV4, up one percentage point, and 15 percent claimed by the Honda CR-V, flat compared versus Q4 2020. The Rogue saw an 11 percent segment share, up eight percentage points, while the Tucson commanded seven percent, up two percentage points. The segment share of the Escape was flat year-over-year at seven percent while CX-5 was also at seven percent, up one percentage point.

However, we must note that Ford now fields two vehicles in this segment – the Escape and the Bronco Sport. Combining sales of both models gives The Blue Oval 60,589 deliveries, good for a 13 percent segment share. Though higher than the respective seven and six percent held by the Escape and Bronco Sport individually, placing Ford in third place, the figure is still behind the two segment leaders.

The Ford Authority Take

These Q4 2021 sales figures clearly show that the Ford Bronco Sport remains a highly sought-after product. In fact, the Bronco Sport has been turning in just 17 days on dealer lots while used prices for the rugged crossover are actually trending higher than new. The Bronco Sport has also racked up a number of awards, including a spot on Consumer Reports‘ best SUVs on the market under $30k list.

Ford Authority has extensively covered the changes to the Bronco Sport for the 2022 model year, which include renaming packages on three trim levels due to a change in the availability of the moonroof throughout the lineup as well as the addition of a leather wrapped steering wheel as standard on the Badlands trim.

The 2022 Bronco Sport represents the second model year of the Bronco Sport, which originally launched in late 2020 as a 2021 model year vehicle. We expect the crossover to continue on in its current form through the 2023 model year, with a refresh expected for the 2024 MY, which is expected to introduce a new hybrid variant, among other changes.
