As the Ford electrified vehicle lineup continues to grow, so do the automaker’s conquest rates – or the percentage of customers those vehicles are attracting from other brands. That trend continued through February, as the Ford electrified vehicle lineup – which consists of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric models – set yet another new record with a 55.3 percent sales increase, while Ford’s electrified conquest rates grew by 13 percentage points over last year to 54 percent, according to the automaker’s most recent sales report.
In terms of individual models, this trend has existed for some time now. As Ford Authority reported back in September, the 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost hybrid, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford Escape Hybrid, Escape PHEV, Ford Explorer Hybrid, Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring, and Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring all helped the automaker attract customers of other brands at a rate that was full eight points higher than its overall conquest rate.
The F-150 PowerBoost has become increasingly popular among buyers since its launch, while the first-ever hybrid F-150 helped hybrid vehicles, in general, enjoy their best sales result in history last year. The vast majority of 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning reservation holders are also new to The Blue Oval, as was also the case with the Ford Bronco.
Meanwhile, the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid has remained one of the most considered electrified vehicles among shoppers over the past several quarters, according to Kelley Blue Book’s Brand Watch Study. Perhaps more impressively, the Maverick’s top competitive conquest last month was the Honda Civic – a vehicle that it doesn’t compete directly with, yet the Ford pickup’s low cost of entry and exceptional fuel economy continue to attract non-traditional truck buyers in throes.
