With the used vehicle market on fire in recent months, certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles have also been a major focus point for automakers and third-party companies. Ford launched its own CPO entity dubbed BlueAdvantage back in February of 2021, and the new tool immediately proved to be an asset for participating dealers amid inventory shortages, helping to drive CPO sales to a 26 percent increase last year. Ford began offering customers a 14-day, 1,000-mile money-back guarantee earlier this year, and since then, a number of competitors have started launching their own CPO programs, including General Motors’ CarBravo. Now, Honda is also joining the fray with its own enhanced CPO service dubbed HondaTrue Used.
Like all other CPO programs, HondaTrue Used focuses on vehicles that are submitted to a background and quality check which in this case includes a 112-point inspection performed by a certified Honda technician. It applies to vehicles that are 10 years old or newer (as is the case with BlueAdvantage) and offers a 100-day/5,000-mile limited warranty, a complimentary oil change, trip-interruption expense reimbursement, concierge services, a complimentary three-month trial of SiriusXM, and a 3-day/300-mile exchange policy.
Additionally, HondaTrue offers a complementary suite of Honda Care’s Motor Club benefits during the duration of the vehicle’s non-powertrain limited warranty period, including up to 12 months or 12,000 miles of emergency roadside assistance, towing to a local dealership, flat tire changes with the spare, battery boosts, emergency fuel delivery, lockout assistance, and winch service.
“HondaTrue Used is a critical new gateway to the Honda brand, especially for young and first-time buyers,” said Dan Rodriguez, Manager of Auto Remarketing at American Honda. “Customers can now shop for a high-quality certified used Honda on our website, and buy with confidence from the most knowledgeable and experienced source – a Honda dealer.”
