New Ford Tourneo Connect Gets Highest Euro NCAP Safety Rating

Ford Motor Company has earned a number of top ratings from Euro NCAP – a European voluntary car safety performance assessment program – in recent years, including a five-star rating for the Kuga and Puma, top honors for the Kuga in the organization’s first-ever Assisted Driving grading, perfect ratings for the Ford Mustang Mach-E, a Gold award for the Ford Transit, and another Gold award for the all-electric E-Transit. Now, the new 2022 Ford Tourneo Connect – which was revealed last October – has also been awarded a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, too.

“Family car buyers instinctively value safety, and we believe no customer should have to think twice about whether their Ford is watching out for them,” said Stuart Southgate, director, Safety Engineering, Ford of Europe. “Our all-new Tourneo Connect’s sophisticated safety and driver assistance features are designed to help the driver to prevent or mitigate accidents, and protect should a collision occur, so that families can enjoy peace-of-mind on their journeys.”

The 2022 Ford Tourneo Connect received scores of 84 percent for adults and 82 percent for child occupant protection, including maximum points in side barrier crash tests, while Euro NCAP also gave the model high marks for its bevy of driver-assist features, including Driver Alert, Lane-Keeping System, and Pre-Collision Assist autonomous braking technology.

The 2022 Tourneo Connect is essentially a rebadged Volkswagen Caddy with the same drivetrain options and output – albeit renamed to fit within the Blue Oval family – and is part of the new partnership between the automakers that was revealed back in June 2020. The new Tourneo Connect just entered production with deliveries expected to begin this spring. Meanwhile, the next-generation Ford Transit Connect will be reportedly be built at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico alongside the Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick.
