2020 Ford Super Duty Recalled Over Unintentional Rollaway Risk

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2020 Ford Super Duty pickups with the Ford 6.7L V8 Power Stroke diesel engine due to an issue with a washer in the vehicle’s transmission.

The defect: in affected vehicles, a disintegrated washer can cause metallic debris to become lodged in the ‘Park’ mechanism.

The hazards: a disintegrated transmission washer can create debris within the ‘Park’ mechanism that could prevent the vehicle from going in to or holding ‘Park,’ which could increase the risk of a vehicle rollaway and crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this issue.

Components: transmission gearset.

Affected vehicles: select 2020 Ford Super Duty pickups built at the Ford Kentucky Truck plant between October 1st, 2019 and September 21st, 2020 in addition to pickups built at the Ford Ohio plant between October 30th, 2019 and July 23rd, 2020.

The fix: dealers will replace a gearset within the transmission, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will be mailed May 30th, 2022.
