2021 Ford F-150 Recalled Over Sudden Transmission Shift Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021 Ford F-150 models over a sudden transmission shift issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) for low transmission fluid pressure may falsely activate and cause the transmission to unexpectedly shift into neutral.

The hazards: an unexpected shift into neutral will cause a loss of drive power and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: transmission.

Affected vehicles: select 2021 Ford F-150 models built at the Ford Dearborn Truck Plant and Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant between July 28th, 2021, and December 20th, 2021.

Number of vehicles affected: 47,084

The fix: dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on May 2nd, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22S15.

TSK TSK The recall saga continues. This is FORD’s bread and butter product too.
If FORD can’t handle a new component, then they should have just left the previous transmission in place.

Next we will get an announcement that all Ford trucks will come with manual transmissions until further notice.

There’s a better chance of going back to bias tires and DC generators. As long as we’re at it, how about a piston engine version of the 737 and next time you take AMTRAK, a steam locomotive might pull the train. Point is, if manual transmissions were so great, why did they discontinue them. They used to offer them but they would sit on the lot so long that they had to almost give them away or swap in an automatic just to sell the thing and get it off the lot.

That would help build up the inventory on the lots since not many will buy them. Automatic transmissions have been around forever. So there’s no excuse for crappy quality like this.

No problem with my 2021 power boost at this time. But have another question, if you would like to hear about it.
