The 2022 Expedition has been produced at the Ford Kentucky Truck plant since January 2022, but supply of the full-size SUV is extremely limited due to ongoing constraints around the supply chain.

Buyers interested in FoMoCo’s full-size three-row SUV should consult with their local dealers in regard to placing an order for models clad in the new Infinite Blue color.

Ford Authority has extensively covered the changes to the Expedition for the 2022 model year, which include a new, off-road-oriented Expedition Timberline and Stealth Edition Performance Package, as well as new front and rear fascias, and various improvements to the interior, such as the addition of a huge, vertically-oriented center screen.

In addition to these changes, The Blue Oval has also been temporarily removing some features from the Expedition with plans to install them once chip issues subside. Some of these include dropping Active Park Assist 2.0, offering a multicontour seat delete option, removing second-row climate controls and heated seats, as well as offering an auto stop/start removal option. In doing so, FoMoCo hopes to speed up the production process of the Expedition and help buyers receive their full-sized SUVs faster than without implementing these changes.

  1. I have a 2022 Expedition XLT on order with Ford. When I ordered it in December I chose the Infinite Blue Metallic (new for 2022) color. However, before Ford confirmed my order in April the dealership was notified that I would have to pick another color as the Infinite Blue Metallic (new for 2022) was discontinued. So is the color discontinued or not? Thank you.
