2022 Ford Explorer Gains New Stone Blue Color: First Look

The 2022 Ford Explorer adds two new colors to its roster: Burgundy Velvet and Stone Blue. Here’s our first look at the Stone Blue option.

Assigned order code C8, Stone Blue is one of ten colors available for the 2022 Ford Explorer.

Stone Blue is a $495 option and can be paired with all trims except for Base, on which it is not available. Otherwise, the color can be paired with all interior color combinations.

Ford Explorer Trim Levels:

  • Base
  • XLT
  • ST-Line
  • Timberline
  • Limited
  • ST
  • King Ranch
  • Platinum

Ford Explorer Interior Color Combinations:

  • Sandstone
  • Ebony with Light Slate
  • Light Slate
  • Ebony
  • Java
  • Light Sandstone

As of this writing, the 2022 Explorer is available at dealers nationwide since the Ford Chicago Assembly plant has been producing the current model since November 2021.

However, the ongoing chip shortage and supply chain constraints have led to some creative de-contenting on the part of automakers including Ford. For instance, FoMoCo has been offering customers the ability to delete some features and take delivery of their vehicles sooner. Some of these features include auto engine start/stop, as well as multicontour seats and second-row climate controls.

Additionally, the 2022 model year has received its own updates including dropping standard four-wheel drive in favor of rear-wheel-drive, the choice of a second-row bench seat or captain’s chairs at no additional cost, a second-row bench seat option on the Timberline model, new seat trim for XLT Sport Appearance Package, and a standard Technology Package for King Ranch and Platinum trims.

Dee, if your auto re-start is taking a “few seconds” to restart, you should probably head to the dealer to get that checked out. It’s been on my last couple of F150s, and the re-start is almost instantaneous. My foot isn’t even completely off the brake and it’s already restarting.
