2016 Ford Super Duty Trucks Recalled Over Airbag Deployment Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2016 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 pickups due to an airbag deployment issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, dust may accumulate in the steering wheel clock spring, causing a disconnection in the electrical connection, resulting in the driver air bag not deploying as intended.

The hazards: a driver air bag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this issue.

Components: steering wheel clock spring.

Affected vehicles: select 2016 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 pickups built between December 1st, 2014 and July 5th, 2016.

Number of vehicles affected: 310,203

The fix: dealers will replace the steering wheel clock spring, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will be mailed July 5th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22S35.
