2016 Ford Super Duty Trucks Recalled Over Airbag Deployment Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2016 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 pickups due to an airbag deployment issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, dust may accumulate in the steering wheel clock spring, causing a disconnection in the electrical connection, resulting in the driver air bag not deploying as intended.

The hazards: a driver air bag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this issue.

Components: steering wheel clock spring.

Affected vehicles: select 2016 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 pickups built between December 1st, 2014 and July 5th, 2016.

Number of vehicles affected: 310,203

The fix: dealers will replace the steering wheel clock spring, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will be mailed July 5th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22S35.

    Not even the bread and butter products are exempt from this dysfunction at FORD.

    Your airbag may not work in a crash, but have a great 4th and we’ll get back to you after that with something to do about it, if there isn’t a parts issue.
    Please, someone do a thesis on Ford to explain how a company that has this many issues continues to exist.

      Like I said before, FORD ought to merge with BOEING since they build lemons too. Two great American icons that decided that quality is no longer important.
