2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate Debuts As Ford Expedition Platinum Foe

The refreshed 2022 Ford Expedition was revealed last September and subsequently launched earlier this year after production of the full-size SUV began at the Ford’s Kentucky Truck plant back in January. The Ford Expedition has no shortage of competition in that segment, however, most notably the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. Now, the luxurious Expedition Platinum has yet another rival to worry about as well – the newly revealed 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate.

Much like the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate is designed to be the, well, ultimate version of that pickup, the same rings true for the 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate. The Ultimate takes the already-luxurious Denali trim to the next level, starting on the outside with Vader Chrome exterior trim, darker-finished GMC badges, and unique 22-inch seven-spoke wheels.

Most of the upgrades present on the Yukon Denali Ultimate lie inside the cabin, however, where the big SUV has been treated to Alpine Umber full-grain leather upholstery in all three rows, 16-way power front seats with a massaging function, and an 18-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system with head restraint-based speakers for front-row passengers and etched metal speaker grilles. Additionally, GM’s new 10.2-inch infotainment screen comes as standard equipment.

Like the Yukon Denali, the Denali Ultimate comes equipped with GM’s naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 engine, which is rated to produce 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque and is mated to the automaker’s 10-speed automatic transmission. However, GM’s 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax powerplant – which cranks out 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque – is available as a no-cost option. Magnetorheological dampers and an air suspension also come standard.

The 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate is scheduled to launch this fall, though no pricing information is available as of this writing. However, the Sierra Denali Ultimate retails for roughly $20k more than the regular Denali, so it certainly won’t be cheap.

Looks pretty sharp. The BUICK/GMC dealers don’t want the potential customer to head over to the CADILLAC dealer to buy the ESCALADE hence the extra premium version.

If this costs a similar amount more than the regular Denali, then look out, because that costs more than some Escalade trims.
