Ford Custom Order Discount Eliminated For Certain Models

A new Ford custom order discount launched nearly a year ago that takes $1,000 off the cost of a new vehicle that customers order, not in-stock inventory. At that time, the Ford custom order discount was available on virtually every vehicle in the automaker’s lineup, save for hot new products like the 2022 Ford Maverick compact pickup, 2022 Ford Bronco SUV, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Ford F-150 Lightning EV pickup. Now, what is officially known as the Ford Retail Order Bonus Cash Certificate has eliminated four other models from this eligibility, according to a dealer incentive bulletin seen by Cars Direct.

Those four models are the Ford Expedition, Ford EcoSport, Ford Ranger, and Ford Transit Connect. This change took effect on May 3^rd, while the discount for all other models ends on May 31^st. Previously, the custom order discount was slated to expire on June 5^th, and it’s unclear if FoMoCo plans to scrap it altogether or revive it for future months. This move comes as a bit of a surprise given the fact that this discount was intended to motivate customers to order their next vehicle amid scant inventory levels.

Cars Direct also notes that the 2022 Ford F-150 has a deadline of today – May 13^th – to place an order and be eligible for a $1,000 Retail Order Bonus Cash Certificate, though buyers have until the end of the month to claim that deal so long as the order is placed by today. This is due to the fact that 2022 F-150 orders won’t be taken after today, as Ford Authority recently reported. It’s also unclear if this offer will be extended or replaced with something comparable.

Regardless, Ford’s retail orders have picked up considerably over the past few months, hitting new record highs as consumers opt to order their next new vehicle rather than try and find what they want on nearly empty dealer lots.
