2021-2022 Ford F-150 Recalled Over Trailer Brake Failure Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2022 Ford F-150 models over a trailer brake failure.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the trailer brake controllers may fail to apply the trailer brakes when towing a trailer equipped with an electric or electric-over-hydraulic brake system.

The hazards: loss of trailer brake functionality could result in extended stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: trailer brake controller

Affected vehicles: select 2021-2022 Ford F-150 models built at the Ford Dearborn Truck Plant and Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant between October 12th, 2020, and March 7th, 2022.

Number of vehicles affected: 6,383

The fix: dealers will update the integrated trailer brake control module software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22S38.

      Have you ever gotten that feeling that parts and build quality were better when there were more humans involved in the actual assembly of a vehicle? (Aside from Monday & Friday, older folks would understand this remark)
