The Blue Oval Sold 201 Units Of The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning In May

The very first 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning deliveries began early last month, just a few weeks after production started at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center. Meanwhile, the first 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning deliveries began a few weeks later, with several examples of the new all-electric pickup landing in the hands of eager customers. Now, we know exactly how many F-150 Lightning pickups Ford sold last month, as it released that information via its May sales report.

Ford sold a grand total of 201 F-150 Lightning pickups in May, though it also noted that many more are in transit to customers and dealers as production continues to ramp up. These represent the very first sales of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, though there are obviously many more to come as the automaker seeks to fill the roughly 200,000 reservations it has taken for the all-electric pickup.

Meanwhile, the F-150 Lightning remains the most considered EV pickup among new vehicle shoppers, though the automaker previously said that it will take some time for production to catch up with demand. Regardless, Ford plans to nearly double planned production of the Lightning by the middle of next year, though it also faces numerous obstacles to achieving that goal stemming from various supply chain shortages.

Recently, Ford removed the Multicontour seat option from the F-150 Lightning Platinum because of these supply chain problems, and has also delayed the delivery of its Charge Station Pro feature until the end of this month, as Ford Authority reported yesterday. Owners that have taken delivery of their all-electric pickups thus far are receiving one unexpected feature along with their purchase, however – an adapter for charging Tesla vehicles using the Lighting’s Pro Power Onboard generator.
