The Ford F-150 is gaining a few new variants for the 2023 model year, including the retro-inspired Heritage Edition, the entry-level, off-road focused Rattler, and the supercharged, V8-powered 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R. However, the perennially best-selling pickup is also gaining at least one new exterior color – Area 51 – which is already available on a host of Blue Oval products including the Ford Maverick, Ford Bronco, and Ford Bronco Raptor. Yesterday, Ford Authority spies spotted a Ford F-150 Lightning finished in this same hue – signaling that it is also headed for the EV pickup – and now, those same spies have come across a 2023 Ford F-150 Heritage Edition painted in Area 51, too.
The 2023 Ford F-150 Heritage Edition was revealed late last month as a retro-inspired tribute to 75 years of continuous Ford F-Series production. The most notable difference between it and any other F-150 variant is its unique two-tone paint job, which FoMoCo refers to as the A-B-A exterior paint pattern – A refers to the roof and pillars, B to the truck’s midsection, and C to the bumpers, lower door, and lower body.
Ford will offer a grand total of five color combinations for the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition, consisting of Race Red with upper and lower Carbonized Gray paint, Atlas Blue with Agate Black, Antimatter Blue with Carbonized Gray, Avalanche with Agate Black, and as is the case with this particular pickup, an Area 51 midsection featuring upper and lower Agate Black paint.
In addition to its unique two-tone color options, the Heritage Edition F-150 also comes equipped with slate gray and black seat trim with unique inserts, special embossing and a white “75 Years” logo for the center console lid and windshield, and a unique animation for the truck’s infotainment screen.
Exclusively offered as part of the XLT range, 2023 Ford F-150 Heritage Edition pricing will be revealed once order banks open up in mid-July.

The Atlas looks cool, the 2023 F150 Truck in Area 51 really is nice as a scaled up version of my Area 51, 22 Maverick. Body lines suggest the Maverick with smooth indentations above wheel wells, blacked out trim and paint at body base. The tailgate screams Maverick. A real nice change for the full size truck, impressed!
