The 2023 Ford F-150 lineup will present a host of new models for consumers to choose from, including the entry-level off-road-focused Rattler, the retro-inspired Heritage Edition, and the high-performance, V8-powered Ford F-150 Raptor R. The new model year will also mark the second for the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning, with production currently scheduled to begin this October. The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning likely won’t see too many changes since it’s such a new product, but one appears to be the addition of Area 51 to its available exterior color choices, as we can see from these photos recently secured by Ford Authority spies.
These photos show us not only one, but two 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning pickups finished in Area 51, which is currently available on a host of Blue Oval products including the Ford Maverick, Ford Bronco, Ford Bronco Raptor, the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition, and soon, the F-150 Raptor R. The retro-inspired blue color has proven to be a pretty big hit with buyers thus far, making its addition to the Lightning’s palette (along with the 2023 F-150 lineup in general) anything less than a surprise.
This pairing of Area 51-finished 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning pickups consist of a Lariat-trimmed model with 20-inch Dark Carbonized Gray alloy wheels, as well as an F-150 Lightning Pro fitted with 18-inch machined wheels with black high-gloss pockets.
Aside from the addition of at least one new exterior color option, the 2023 F-150 Lightning will be getting one other big change, as Ford Authority reported back in April – a new Android-based operating system. The EV pickup will be one of the very first Blue Oval models to come equipped with this next-gen software, which will soon spread to other vehicles in the automaker’s lineup thanks to a new partnership with Google.
