Ford Motor Company sales jumped 31.5 percent to 152,262 units during June 2022 in the United States. Sales increased at both FoMoCo brands, Ford and Lincoln.
“Amid industry-wide supply constraints, Ford outperformed the industry driven by strong F-Series, Explorer and new Expedition and Navigator SUV sales. Combined, these vehicles represented just over 56 percent of our sales in June – up about 8 percentage points from May,” said Vice President, Ford Sales U.S. and Canada, Andrew Frick. “F-150 Lightning was America’s best-selling electric truck in June in its first full month of sales, while our overall electric vehicle sales were up 77 percent over last year,” he added.
FoMoCo Sales Notes – U.S. – June 2022
Sale types:
- Total Ford Motor Company sales during June 2022 increased 31.5 percent to 152,262 units
- Truck sales totaled 79,823 units, up 26.4 percent total and up 6 percent at retail
- SUV sales totaled 67,788 units, up 36.1 percent total and up 39.1 percent at retail
- Electrified vehicle sales totaled 4,353 units, up 6 percent total and up 54.6 percent at retail
- Ford total U.S. share in June expanded to 12.9 percent as sales outperformed the industry
- Overall industry sales were down 11 percent, while Ford sales improved 31.5 percent over a year ago, despite ongoing industry semiconductor chip and supply constraints
- Share gains came from F-Series, Explorer and Expedition along with continued strong expansion of battery-electric vehicles
- Ford’s average transaction pricing expanded approximately $1,900 per vehicle in June relative to May, thanks to an improved mix of F-Series, Expedition, Explorer and Navigator
- This compares favorably to an industry increase of about $150
- These vehicles represented just over 56 percent of the mix in June, an increase of about 8 percentage points over May and 3 percentage points from a year ago
- F-Series sales were up 26.3 percent and representing 37.9 percent of Ford’s overall sales mix – up from 32.0 percent in May
- F-Series has been expanding its truck leadership through the first half of the year, outselling its second-place competitor by about 40,000 trucks
- Almost 60 percent of F-Series retail sales came from previously placed orders and the trucks continue to turn at record rates
- Ford total pickup sales, including F-Series, Ranger and Maverick were up 26.3 percent over a year ago with total pickups sales of 66,663
- Ford’s total pickup share gained approximately 7 percentage points to 29 percent in June over last year
- This is the highest share of any brand in the total pickup segment
- Sales of Ford electric vehicles jumped 76.6 percent from a year ago, totaling 4,353 for the month
- Going into July, both F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E dealer stock is higher than in June, positioning both for a stronger July sales month
- Ford’s combined portfolio of electric vehicles are conquesting from competitors at a rate over 70 percent
- In June, Ford brand is second only to Tesla in U.S. electric vehicle sales
- Ford brand SUV sales totaled 60,894, which were up 35.3 percent over last year
- The Bronco family of vehicles, including Bronco and Bronco Sport, expanded its sales by 82.7 percent over last year totaling 15,703 vehicles
- Based on improved inventory flow, Ford saw strong sales improvements in both Explorer and the refreshed Expedition. Combined, their sales were up 56.7 percent over a year ago and they represented almost 44 percent of the SUV mix. This compares to 38 percent last year and 35 percent in May
- Lincoln SUV sales posted a gain of 43.6 percent over a year ago, with gains coming from across the entire portfolio
- Sales of the redesigned Navigator totaled 1,799 up 64.0 percent relative to May on improved availability

Brand & Model Sales
Ford sales increased 31.1 percent to 145,368 units:
- Ford Bronco sales increased 983.77 percent to 8,681 units
- Ford Bronco Sport sales decreased 15.95 percent to 7,022 units
- Ford E-Series sales increased 11.47 percent to 2,371 units
- Ford EcoSport sales decreased 24.52 percent to 2,657 units
- Ford Edge sales increased 11.24 percent to 4,541 units
- Ford Escape sales increased 7.73 percent to 9,557 units
- Ford Expedition sales decreased 10.2 percent to 6,693 units
- Ford Explorer sales increased 109.49 percent to 19,786 units, more than doubling sales from June 2021
- Ford F-Series sales increased 26.27 percent to 57,673 units
- F-150 Lightning recorded its first customer sales at the end of May, while selling 1,837 units in June – its first full month on the market
- More than 75 percent of people who reserved an F-150 Lightning came from other competitive brands
- Between May and June, Ford sold a total of 2,296 F-150 Lightnings, taking the lead in the segment
- Ford GT sales decreased 55.56 percent to 4 units
- Ford Heavy Trucks sales decreased 2.88 percent to 1,080 units
- Ford Maverick sales totaled 3,882 units
- Ford Mustang sales increased 107.46 percent to 4,647 units
- Ford Mustang Mach-E sales decreased 20.61 percent to 1,957 units
- Ford Ranger sales decreased 28.07 percent to 5,108 units
- Ford Transit sales increased 73.58 percent to 7,700 units
- Sales of the all-electric E-Transit now total 3,008 units through June of this year, which is more than 16 times the combined sales of all U.S. electric commercial vans
- Ford Transit Connect sales decreased 25.04 percent to 2,009 units
Lincoln sales increased 40.6 percent to 6,894 units:
- Lincoln Aviator sales increased 49.95 percent to 1,498 units
- Lincoln Corsair sales increased 76.06 percent to 2,155 units
- Lincoln Nautilus sales increased 7.45 percent to 1,442 units
- Lincoln Navigator sales increased 45.67 percent to 1,799 units
During the first six months of the 2022 calendar year, Ford Motor Company sales decreased 8.1 percent to 915,820 units.
