The Ford Mustang Mach-E launched in 2020 for the 2021 model year, and has since gone on sale in a number of global markets including the U.S. and Europe. But while the Mach-E is produced at the Cuautitlan Assembly plant in Mexico, the EV crossover was not available to purchase in that country – until now, that is. That’s because tomorrow, July 6th, the Ford Mustang Mach-E will be available to reserve for interested customers in that North American country.
A very limited number of 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E models will be available for customers in Mexico to reserve online. The automaker will send out its first batch of emails to those select customers with steps on how to complete the reservation process, at which point they will have until Thursday, July 7th at 8 pm to do so, or until all of the available units are spoken for. Customers who are selected for the opportunity to purchase a new Mach-E will then be contacted by email and/or phone, at which point they can complete the ordering process through the Ford Certified Electrification Distributor of their choice.
“We are very excited to be able to announce the availability of the brand’s first 100 percent electric vehicle produced in Mexico, where manufacturing is combined in the hands of great local talent, and the passion that for more than 58 years has made Mustang an icon that has united a large number of followers,” said Lucien Pinto, director of Sales and Marketing at Ford Mexico.
Meanwhile, Ford stopped taking orders for the 2022 Mach-E in the U.S. back in April as demand for the EV crossover quickly exceeded FoMoCo’s production capacity. The Mach-E remains one of the most considered electric vehicles on the market, which has prompted Ford to vastly expand its production capacity to 200k units per year by 2023.
