Ford Motor Company has filed to trademark “Ford Supervan” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Ford Authority has learned.
Filed on July 11th, 2022, under serial number 97496970, this application contains the goods and services description of “motor vehicles, namely, electrically powered motor vehicles, passenger automobiles, four-wheeled motor vehicles, vans, trucks, off-road vehicles, structural parts and fittings.”
The Ford Authority Take
After creating a new “Supervan” with the help of fans and the virtual gaming outfit Team Fordzilla last December, The Blue Oval shocked the world by reinventing its iconic Ford Supervan as an all-electric model that made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed just a few weeks ago. Inspired by the recently-revealed E-Transit Custom, the Ford Pro Electric Supervan cranks out an astounding 1,973 horsepower, which propels the electrified van from 0-62 miles-per-hour in just two seconds.
Like the Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400 and Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, the Ford Supervan is a showcase of EV technology, previewing what it’s capable of when we push it to the absolute limit. As such, all of these vehicles are specifically built for track use, and are quite unlikely to make it to production. However, this trademark filing certainly makes it seem like FoMoCo might have something else in store for the Supervan name.
Soon, Ford will have a variety of all-electric Transit vans in its lineup, so adding a performance variant wearing the Supervan name makes quite a bit of sense, particularly given the model’s popularity over the years. Of course, that’s pure speculation, but we’d certainly love to see a performance-focused, family-hauling EV van in The Blue Oval lineup, even if it doesn’t quite have 2,000 horsepower on tap.
We’ll have more on this and all of Ford’s trademark filings soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford trademark news, Ford business news, and continuous Ford news coverage.

Wonderful, but a road version with a Coyote V8 under the hood.
