This Is How The 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor Exhaust Sounds: Video

The 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor was revealed back in September 2020 as a more rugged, off-road-capable variant of the mid-size pickup sporting a host of upgrades in a variety of areas. In recent weeks, Ford Authority has spent some time with the Ranger Tremor, getting to know this popular pickup and completing a very revealing fuel economy test. We also took the time to record the various exhaust notes of the 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor to give everyone an idea of just exactly what it sounds like from a cold start, as well as when it’s revved up.

The Ranger Tremor is powered by the same turbocharged Ford 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost powerplant as every other current U.S. Ranger model, which produces 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. It also utilizes the same exhaust as the regular Ranger, which means – unsurprisingly – that the more rugged off-roader sounds pretty much like it, too, as well as most other Blue Oval products packing this particular powertrain. We can clearly hear the “whistle” of the turbo, at least.

While we’d like to have a bit more volume from a special variant like the Tremor, that simply isn’t the case here, as it is with Raptor versions of the Ranger, Ford F-150, and Ford Bronco. Instead, the Tremor is pretty much whisper quiet upon startup, and it’s fairly subdued while idling as well. Revving it up doesn’t change that either, as the I-4 sounds quite meager breathing through the factory exhaust, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on one’s personal opinion.

For those that do desire a bit more sound from their Ranger, there are plenty of aftermarket exhaust upgrades available, including louder pipes from MagnaFlow, MBRP, and Roush, while Ford Performance also sells a set of fancier exhaust tips for those that are simply seeking an upgrade in the visual department.

We’ll have more on the new Ranger Tremor soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Ranger news and continuous Ford news coverage.

Not sure why the tease about a 4-banger exhaust? My John Deere tractor has a deeper rumble. What did you expect? I suspect in the near future electric cars will need archival audio of a own Coyote through a Borla exhaust to make it sound like it belongs on the road.
