Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022 Ford Maverick models over an issue with the side curtain airbags.

The hazards: improper deployment of an airbag increases the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: side curtain airbags.

Affected vehicles: select 2022 Ford Maverick models produced at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant from February 3rd, 2021, to July 9th, 2022.

Number of vehicles affected: 64,974

The fix: dealers will replace the left and right side curtain airbag modules with a new design, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on September 22nd, 2022.

Ordered my Lariat hybrid on 06/24/2022. Manufactured by 6/18/2022. Arrived to the dealer 9/27/2022. Due to the recall for the side curtain airbag per Ford’s 22C20 campaign the service action a complete dealer bulletin for the service action will be provided Q1 2023! No delivery until the fix. Outrageous!

  2. Gabor

Sorry the order was placed 06/24/2021 …

Essentially the same with me. Ordered my Maverick on 12-03-21. Delivered to dealer last week on 10-06-22. BUT recall in place for defective side curtain airbags. Module to fix not available until 2023. Can either tell Ford to stuff it (love to but won’t) or wait until 2023 for parts available for fix. I’m LONG-TIME Ford customer. But this entire Maverick FIASCO, from start to finish, is a game changer.

Due to the recall the delivery is 9 month after the vehicle was manufactured. It is a new car at that. time? It there an effect on the batteries for the hybrid being idle for 9 month?

That’s my question as well. I ordered the Maverick in September, 2021, built in July, 2022, delivered to the dealership in October, and now is being held for a recall until the middle of 2023, is it really still a new vehicle? I’ll probably stick it out until if finally delivers, but this will probably be the last Ford I ever purchase.
