Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022 Ford Transit models over a potential fault with the rearview camera assembly. This comes on the heels of the latest in a series of similar recalls related to the 2022 Transit’s rearview camera display.
The defect:Â affected vehicles may have a missing audio control module (ACM), which results in no rearview camera image while in reverse gear. The ACM is responsible for various functions including rearview camera display and radio functionality, and a missing module will result in no rearview camera display.
The hazards: a camera that does not display a rearview image while reversing can reduce the driver’s view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Components:Â rearview camera display, audio control module.
Affected vehicles: select 2022 Ford Transit vehicles built at the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant between April 2nd, 2022, and May 3rd, 2022.
Number of vehicles affected: 46
The fix: dealers will install an ACM and program the unit. This procedure will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin September 26th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22S54. Alternatively, owners can contact their dealer, or to Ford Motor Company.
