2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 Adds Standard AWD

As Ford Authority reported back in April, a large percentage of Ford Mustang Mach-E buyers have opted for all-wheel drive over rear-wheel drive thus far – to the tune of 72 percent. That’s a big part of the reason why FoMoCo decided to add all-wheel drive as an option for the 2022 Mach-E California Route 1 Edition, which was previously only available in rear-wheel drive configuration. However, it seems as if customer demand for the rear-wheel drive model has waned, prompting Ford to drop it altogether in the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1.

Unlike the previous two model years, the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 is now only available with all-wheel drive, but that isn’t the only update coming for the EV crossover’s lineup. In fact, Ford revealed a bevy of details regarding the 2023 Mach-E last week, including some large price increases across the board that range from $6,000 and $8,500, depending on trim. For the 2023 model year, the California Route 1 is $8,100 more expensive than before, though the addition of standard all-wheel drive offsets that increase somewhat.

Additionally, 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium models equipped with the extended range battery are getting a range boost of 13 miles, which gives it an EPA-estimated 290 miles of range. Ford Co-Pilot360 is now standard across the entire lineup, while on Select models, Ford BlueCruise and the 360-degree camera are available for a complimentary 90-day trial period, too. In terms of exterior color changes, the 2023 Mustang Mach-E is gaining both Carbonized Gray Metallic and Vapor Blue Metallic, which will replace Dark Matter Gray Metallic and Iced Blue Silver Metallic. Additionally, the panoramic fixed-glass roof is now standard on the GT and GT Performance Edition, replacing the black-painted roof.

As Ford Authority reported last week, the all-new Nite Pony Package will also be available on both the extended-range Premium and GT Performance Edition and adds high-gloss black 19-inch wheels and a black pony front grille emblem for the Premium, as well as high-gloss black 20-inch wheels and a black GT badge for the GT Performance Edition. Both Mach-E Nite Pony Package models get black front and rear lower fascias, black front and rear door cladding, black mirror caps, and black wheel center caps with bright pony graphics. Customers can pair the package with any exterior color available in the Mach-E lineup, too.
