Ford Kuga, Focus Gain New Rooftop Tent In Europe

As the popularity of outdoor lifestyle-related parts and accessories continues to grow, so does Ford’s catalog of those very same offerings. That list now includes the Ford Kuga and Focus, which have gained a new rooftop tent offering in Europe, just a few weeks after the automaker gave the green light to Ford Mustang Mach-E owners to carry accessories on the EV crossover’s roof in that same region, as well as on the heels of an entirely new lineup of goods for the all-new, next-generation Ford Ranger and Everest.

Ford has teamed up with Thule to create this new rooftop tent for the Ford Kuga and Focus, which is called the Thule Tepui Explorer Ayer. The tent mounts to each vehicle’s rooftop bars, and when it’s not in use, it folds up conveniently and compactly, taking up no more room than a typical rooftop cargo box. Ford says that the tent takes just minutes to deploy, providing a quick and easy way to camp out anywhere these vehicles might travel.

Inside the tent, there’s a high-density foam mattress, providing a comfy place to sleep as well. To reach the rooftop tent, Thule has designed this new product with a built-in aluminum ladder that extends to the ground, then folds up when it’s not in use. This means that owners don’t have to store a ladder in the cargo area of their vehicle, which leaves more space for other things one might need when on a camping excursion.

It’s worth noting that this particular tent isn’t just reserved for Europeans, as Thule also sells it in the U.S. via its own website. The Tepui Explorer Ayer retails for $1,123.95, giving up to two people a portable place to sleep wherever they might travel.
