The mid-size mainstream pickup truck segment contracted 17 percent to 143,271 units in Q2 2022. Of that, the Ford Ranger accounted for 16,201 deliveries, roughly 3.5K lower than the Maverick. However, it’s worth noting that Ranger availability is currently very limited as FoMoCo is limiting production of the truck at the Michigan Assembly plant so as to make more of the new Ford Bronco.

The Ford Authority Take

Ford Maverick sales continue to impress, as the performance during the second quarter of 2022 clearly shows. As one of the top 20 fastest-selling new vehicles on the market, FoMoCo’s compact pickup is running red-hot among retail and business customers alike. With demand easily outstripping supply, the Maverick continues to be one of the most commonly marked-up new vehicles on sale today.

However, this high demand is one of the biggest problems for The Blue Oval, as the automaker is facing increasing pressure to make more of the Maverick and get these units to dealers and to customers. While high levels of demand is generally a good problem to have, it doesn’t help those customers who have been (somewhat patiently) waiting for their orders and reservations.

This situation won’t get much better any time soon, with Ford punting some 2022 model year orders to 2023 since the automaker is behind in production, leading to a large amount of Maverick orders being left unfilled. It’s also worth noting that order banks and 2023 Maverick production have both been pushed back several weeks, allowing Ford to make more of 2022 model year units.

Went to my ford dealership today. Wanted a Maverick. Can’t get one they don’t know how long. Same with lightning, bronco, and E- stang.

That said what about the biggest factor! There not being made on a fair level. I have been waiting since Jan. 2022 and that’s with almost all of what i wanted on it stripped off! So, boasting about sales is a mode point if you can’t get one. Still waiting for a by monthly email that’s says were doing our best? Its already 2023 models. Now what?

Um, sales = trucks they’ve delivered. The more they deliver, the sooner yours will be delivered. How would this not occur to you? Would you rather them deliver only a couple thousand instead, so you’ll get your truck in 2034?

    Ford Authority, are you kidding?
    What Hell are they selling?
I order my Maverick 281 days ago, and up today, there is no delivery schedule for it and neither communication from Ford and Dealer.

Why should they care, Sebastian, people keep playing the fool when it comes to giving Ford their hard earned cash for deposits and eventually paying above MSRP when the vehicle does arrive at the dealership. Some say The dealership is at fault for the price gouging BUT Ford could put a stop to it. Ford likes how things are and the only way it will change is if people do not buy a Ford when order banks reopen. Go buy a Santa Cruz and enjoy your new vehicle tomorrow, not years down the road. Stop letting Ford decide when you’ll get a new car. Because, as you said Sebastian, Ford does not care about the customer.

Yes, by God, go buy a Santa Cruz! Because Hyundai dealers don’t do markups. Go try to order one. They’ll laugh at you.

“giving Ford their hard earned cash for deposits and eventually paying above MSRP when the vehicle does arrive at the dealership.”
BS. And even if true, how does that benefit Ford? You think they’re getting the markups in Dearborn?

        You people take the cake.

Don’t do it, Dave. Farley boasts about their huge order banks. Remember the days when a customer could go in to a dealership and they had control? They lied to your face then but you had the upper hand and they knew it. Now you order a car, wait way too long and then have to remove options at the dealerships request and then pay more than quoted. They are in total control now AND THEY LOVE IT. Buy a Santa Cruz, or a midsize other brand. You’ll probably pay less in the end anyway.

Yes, please, go spend $49k on a Santa Cruz that gets mileage worse than a Ranger. That’ll show em! You’re an idiot.

HINT: If they’ve built twice as many Mavericks as Santa Cruz, doesn’t that tell you anything?

they might have the sales but we don’t have the truck-ordered sept 16, 2021 and the only from ford is it still has not been built and paper work showing 3 price increases-so much for pre-ordering-ford is about as American now as a piece of crap-you advertise all these incentives but if you cannot get the vehicle , where is the incentive-would rather be hurt by the truth, than a pack of liesssssssssss

They’re getting Mavericks out as quickly as possible. Do you think they don’t want to sell these? By the way, you’re price protected. You won’t be paying any increases.

How can they have top sales when they can’t even deliver any Mavericks. I ordered mine 13 months ago and still nothing. But they didn’t have a problem taking my deposit!

Go get your deposit back and go buy a Santa Cruz.

Oh Mike, have you ever been to a Hyundai dealer? Let me guess, they’ve each got 74 different Santa Cruz to choose from, with big discounts on every single one! Lmao

Ford has pretty much blown the rollout of the Maverick. Some of it others fault, some of it theirs. Now they have a bunch of angry customers and lots of lost sales.

I ordered my Maverick 2 months ago.
    Patiently, awaiting.
I “HOPE” THE PRICE DOES NOT INCREASE BY 10 K LIKE A LOT OF MAVERICK BUYERS HAVE STATED UPON ARRIVAL. DON’T NEED, DON’T WANT ALL THAT OTHER “STUFF”.

Dealers/Dealerships are gouging! Adding what THE TRIM should already have for higher price.
Adding glass break, paint protection, upholstery protection for an additional 2k(!) I have insurance for all that.
There is “THE MNFG. MSRP” AND WHEN THE VEHICLE ARRIVES THERE IS “THE DEALERSHIP MSRP”.
THE “MSRP” OF THE VEHICLE “WHEN ORDERED” SHOULD BE THE MSRP UPON ARRIVAL.THEN THERE IS “THE HAGEL” TO BARDER FOR INTEREST AND MONTHLY PAYMENTS, WHICH MY BANK CAN BEAT AND PROVIDE. THE DEALERSHIPS STATE: THE MSRP IS OFFERED ONLY THROUGH THE DEALERSHIPS FINANCING. THE DEALERSHIPS WANT “CUSTOMERS” “SSN , DRIVERS LICENCE AND OTHER PERSONAL INFO”WHEN THEY ARE NOT THE FINANCERS OR CREDITORS.

Mr. Fain, you might want to go back to that dealership where you “ordered” a Maverick in June. They were not taking orders in June 2022. The dealership either lied to you (what a concept), or you misunderstood. Goes without saying, Ford does not care about their customer.

First off I have to know, why would anyone order one of these, second why would anyone wait? I mean this is one of the ugliest things Ford has ever created. I have seen a couple up close and I mean this takes ugly truck to a level that I would be embarrassed to be seen near it. Go get yourself a ranger. Of course there are some people that think the Nissan Juke was cool looking. People did buy an AMC Pacer so I supposed these people would buy a Maverick. SMH….

No deposit required at my dealer and no markup. I am not pressed to get this truck, if it takes a year or more that’s fine with me. Total price at the day I order is what I will pay when it arrives.
    No haggling.

Wonder why Ham is not giving you that info? Chuck, you know as well as I do that Ham will pay what the dealership decides is warranted the day his vehicle arrives. Ford doesn’t care about you or me OR Ham. Buy another vehicle that you can drive today, you’ll probably pay less in the long run.

I’m not sure what your problem is, but you should keep your blathering nonsense to yourself. Yes, there are dealers that are playing games, but the majority are selling ordered units at MSRP as stated at time of ordering.
